Hawthorne/Belmont Area Guide

Portland, Oregon is consistently rated one of the best places to live, visit, and explore. Living is good here in Portland, and during a stay in one of our beautiful vacation rentals, you'll find out why.  http://www.portlandguide.com/neighborhoods/hawthorne-district.php http://www.portlandneighborhood.com/belmont.html http://www.portlandneighborhood.com/hawthorne.html

Nearly all of Portland's neighborhoods are walkable, and the historic Hawthorne District is one of the most friendly to explore by foot. Hawthorne Boulevard is lined with locally-owned coffee shops, boutiques selling everything from fresh-made pasta to international handicrafts. Catch a movie at the Bagdad, one of Portland's unique and beautiful refurbished old movie houses that offer hand-crafted beverages. Or, if books are more your style, check out Powell's Hawthorne outpost; you might think it's the most impressive independent bookstore you've ever been in until you see the main location downtown.  Looking for antiques, toys, shoes or clothing, we have you covered!

Hawthorne and Belmont, as well as the nearby neighborhoods have everything to offer, including some of the best vintage, second-hand, and consignment shops in town.  Hawthorne is well known for it bargains.  And, our major one-stop-shopping center in the neighborhood, Fred Meyer is LEED certified; only a handful of "green" stores offered by a large chain... it is worth checking out!

You can't go wrong spending your vacation in one of our vacation rentals, in this great neighborhood, in this perfect city!  From any of our beautiful vacation rentals, you'll be able to roll out of bed and walk to some of the best coffee shops and breakfast spots in Portland. During the day, you have the whole city to explore, but Hawthorne could keep you entertained on its own. Great shops, lunch spots, and pretty parks await. At night, catch a movie at one of the neighborhood's independent movie theatres, grab a drink at one of our great neighborhood bars, or check out the restaurant fare--we've got everything from Indian to Thai to sushi to burritos to satisfy any appetite.

There is always more to say.... we love it here and think that you will too!

Portland and Hawthorne are famous for its biking community!

Make sure you look both ways...you're more likely to see bicycles in the streets than cars.  Biking is big with Portlanders! Cruise Leif Erickson, Portland's waterfront Tom McCall Waterfront Park, or cross the bridge to the Vera Katz East bank Esplanade
